Delicious Sabudana Vada made at home!





Sabudana Vada, one of my favorite fasting snacks is a fried patty made with tapioca pearls (sago), potatoes, peanuts and herbs. This recipe gives you a super delicious Sabudana Vada that is crispy from outside with a soft and light texture from inside. Gluten-free and vegan.
These crisp patties are slightly sweet and spiced to taste. They are also vegan and gluten-free.
Sabudana Vada can be made for Hindu fasting days or an evening snack too. It is crispy and delicious and thus tastes great with simple coconut chutney (Sabudana vada chatni)  and even sweetened curd (yogurt). To make the sweetened curd, you will just need to add some sugar to the curd and mix it. If short of time, you can even serve with sweet tamarind chutney or homemade tomato ketchup.
In Mumbai, one will find many mithai shops selling this tasty snack. In fact, it is street food in Mumbai as well as Maharashtra and many vendors sell these.

Quick Instructions to make sabudana vada at home

INSTRUCTIONS

  • firstly, in a large bowl take 1 cup sabudana and soak with enough water for 3 hours.
  • drain off the water and rest for 30 minutes, allowing to drain off the water completely.
  • now take the soaked sabudana in a large bowl.
  • also, add 2 potato and ½ cup peanuts.
  • additionally, add ½ tsp ginger paste, 1 tsp cumin, 1 chilli, 2 tbsp coriander and ½ tsp salt.
  • mix and mash well with your hand.
  • prepare vada by deep frying or fry in appe pan.
  • finally, serve sabudana vada hot along with masala tea.
